Barking Out Loud is Just One Way to Burn the Calories

Marty, one of our favorite seniors, crossed the Rainbow Bridge recently

We've been talking about diet quite a bit lately here at SeniorPooch.com. So far, we're making good progress, at least on a psychological front with the measures that I've outlined in one of this week's posts. It's only been a week and I haven't been getting any lip in regards to the subtle changes we've made. I openly admit that I'm being more attentive to Rusty's portion control and more careful in putting back any excess food. Our treat intake has dropped to almost nothing to the point that I realize that I can offer Rusty a small biscuit at the end of the week and he's one happy dancey guy.

Next week we have an interview lined up with Ann Pollock from The Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego with her take on canine foster parents. You're not going to want to miss this if you've ever thought about becoming a foster parent to a deserving pooch, but didn't know if you have what it takes. There's going to be plenty of pictures with this one.

On a more somber note, I learned at the end of last week that Marty (pictured above), had to be euthanized. He was a great dog, but due to some seizures that came upon him suddenly, it was determined that in order to maintain his quality of life that he be helped across the Rainbow Bridge. I only met him once at a rescue event, but he was a good dog.
